Gooseberry family, Grossulariaceae
Origin: practically all Europe, therefore native to the Czech Republic, Caucasus, Siberia, East Asia
Habitat in the original area: highlands, rocky slopes, lighted places in rubble forests
Habitus: A dense shrub growing to the height of up to 2 metres.
List: The petiolate leaves grow alternately. Their blade is round to ovate, with three lobes and a serrated edge.
Bloom, fruit: It blooms from April to May in an upright raceme with many small yellow-green blossoms. The fruits are red, translucent berries without taste.
Interesting fact: In the Czech Republic, the Red List classifies it as a rare species requiring attention (C4a).
