The Slezské Předměstí housing estate is a complex of panel residential buildings which have been reconstructed, and which were, at the time of their construction process, appropriately supplemented by planting trees and creating green belts, including space for annuals and perennials along the individual residential blocks. Currently, these trees are already grown and form the greenery framework. New trees and shrubs are planted in the open spaces (including spaces that occurred after the death of some trees) and they appropriately complement the green space and, simultaneously, they enrich it with new species and cultivars.
The housing estate was completed in the 1980s based on projects from 1969–1972. It is a compact unit that is based on the interwar development concept of Hradec Králové. The north-eastern axis of Hradec Králové, formed by Pospíšil´s Street, was attractive already during the so called First Republic, when villa districts were being built in the gardens around it. The main architect of the new housing estate, Jan Zídka, intended to supplement these districts with several autonomous sets of panel buildings. His intention to create a separate district with a pleasant residential interior and an urban atmosphere while preserving the panorama of the historical core of Hradec Králové was successfully fulfilled.
